Very well thought out and thought-provoking. I agree that going to a riot to be a savior was not the right thing to do. I am happy he was acquitted. He has to live the rest of his life knowing he took a life. Life is a gift. I do have to wrestle with my feelings for the man who was killed. We are not God; he is the ultimate judge and jury. Being a vigilante and/or rendering judgment in the essence of taking life isn't something we should do.
Chaos breeds more chaos. I told my son this yesterday several times. There are consequences for every action we take, good or bad. He was mad that he was being punished for making a bad choice. I told him he created his own chaos. I hope that you are able to find peace on your side of the US. I have not kept up on the news in Portland since my Cousin and his wife moved away three years ago.
